Why I Celebrated Women’s Trials for Women’s History Month
Every March, the United States celebrates Women's History Month by highlighting the contributions and achievements of women throughout history, a 36-year old national tradition with an even older origin.
In observation of the national holiday, the women of Flawless shared with us their personal experiences of womanhood to celebrate their qualities and accomplishments. From their stories emerged themes of compassion, resilience, and perseverance. History would unequivocally agree about the virtuous strength of the female sex.
Three historically famous women who have had a substantial impact on the world are Rosa Parks, Amelia Earhart, and Marie Curie. These three remarkable women have made significant contributions to their respective fields and continue to inspire future generations to fight for equality, explore new frontiers, and strive for scientific advancements. Their legacies serve as a testament to the resilience and perseverance of women throughout history.
Our female colleagues shared with us the modern women who inspire them and unsurprisingly it was a mix ranging from politicians to mothers; businesswomen to lifestyle coaches. In the spirit of Women’s History Month, we’d like to share some of these inspirational female figures with you.
Each of these historical and modern women undoubtedly share a common road of trial as they pioneered their way to success. While anyone can admire the character of perseverance that all of these women display, perhaps it's actually their trials that are the inspirational keystone. Without the trials, they wouldn’t be relatable and success would seem far away for those facing challenges and blockers.
The reality is that everyone experiences trials of all different varieties, and yet some still succeed. We naturally gravitate towards the successful, in search of mentorship to embrace and overcome the challenges we face. There is an endless list of inspiration from women who have faced trials, overcome them, and succeeded. Now among this list are the modern women shared by our colleagues above, whose achievements offer encouragement and inspiration to the community.
Women’s History Month is the perfect opportunity to learn about the trials that historical female figures faced on their journey to success, and to apply these lessons to our lives, men and women alike. While there is a great deal of progress made regarding the professional equality of men and women, there is always room for self-reflection to assess how we can help each other succeed by removing unnecessary challenges.
