[Part 5] In-House, Agencies, and Beyond: A Guide to Talent Acquisition Solutions in 2022
Part 5: Talent Acquisition On-Demand
So far, we've covered a variety of talent acquisition solutions and why your specific situation may or may not make them a good fit. However, there is a relatively new TA solution that bridges some of the gaps found in other options: Recruiters On-Demand.
Recruiters On-Demand (or Talent Acquisition On-Demand, which refers to the more general offering that may include sourcers, recruiting coordinators, and other TA professionals) is essentially a specific, more modern version of the traditional RPO. If you’ve already read the last section, you'll understand the gist of the RPO model, but to summarize it, here are some key ways in which TA On-Demand overlaps with the traditional RPO:
you are charged a fixed monthly cost
the recruiters (or sourcers, coordinators, etc.):
are embedded with your internal team
work exclusively for you (so you don't need to worry about competing interests or split bandwidth)
arrive already trained with industry-specific recruiting knowledge, so you don't need to invest as much in their training or wait as long for them to ramp up
However, TA On-Demand is also unique in several key ways:
All resources are dual-managed by an experienced engagement manager at the On-Demand firm and by someone in your own company, so you don't have to handle the day-to-day people management or all the weekly 1:1s.
Engagement managers provide you with in-depth weekly reporting to provide a comprehensive picture of performance, and proactively address any issues that may arise.
Integrates seamlessly with your internal tools, systems, and data ecosystem to preserve data integrity.
Based on your preference, licenses for additional tools can be provided by the firm.
Provided to you as an additional (but non-exclusive) resource, the firm's engagement managers will provide you with industry insights and market trends, as they have experience working with a wide range of clients and can apply those learnings to your situation as needed.
As your hiring needs naturally ebb and flow over time, you can scale your TA resources up or down however you prefer; if the firm fills all your open roles, for example, you can pause their services entirely until you need them again.
Contracts are typically more flexible than traditional RPOs – both the duration and resource allocation can shift to meet your needs.
To summarize, Talent Acquisition On-Demand differs from traditional RPOs in that:
one or more TA leaders provide people management and additional perspectives on your hiring processes
you have significantly more flexibility to scale up and down as needed
the firm provides you with reporting, performance data, and licenses for recruiting tools
you get to meet resources individually and choose from a pool of recruiting talent
Ultimately, you have to consider multiple factors when deciding which recruiting solution best fits your needs, and there really is no one-size-fits-all solution. While most TA leaders have heard of the traditional split between Agency, In-House, and Contractors (and even the traditional RPO), the newer Talent Acquisition On-Demand model is more novel and not always well understood.
We've done our best to provide you with a comprehensive overview of each solution – with special attention paid to the On-Demand model, as that is our primary offering and what we have found to work best for the widest range of clients and industries.
